Slim Pickens

Mark L.: Is it time to give up on George Pickens?

It is not Pickens you are really giving up on, it is Kenny Pickett. He has not been good this year and that has limited Pickens' ability to be productive. Picket is a product of the offense and quarterback.

Waller withering in Giants offense

Andy B.: With Waller hampered by the wildly ineffective Giants offense, what do you think about cutting him in favor of Kmet? I have Waller in two leagues, one Standard, one half PPR and Kmet is available in both.

It is hard to give up on high ceiling tight end talents. Especially when you consider how scarce the market is. If Kmet is available you definitely should pick him up but Waller still has value. Monday night was the lowest he was targeted all season. There seemed to be a concerted effort to get Wan’Dale Robinson involved and that came at the sacrifice of Waller. Getting Barkley and Andrew Thomas back should balance out the offense and then you could see Waller having more of an impact.

Aaron Jones for Garrett Wilson?

Joe M.: Who wins in a trade? Aaron Jones or Garrett Wilson?

Jones has more ways to affect the game than Wilson does. He can run the ball and catch passes. He is more of a focus in his offense than Wilson is in his. Even if his quarterback is not performing well, he can still be effective on the ground. Wilson is completely dependent on the quarterback play. That is less reliable right now.

Gathering Moss

Jeff N.: League manager dropped Moss, presumably with Taylor and the Tennessee run defense on the horizon. A must add, over all the other available FA's this week, yes?

I definitely would. I can not believe a fantasy manager would drop Moss instead of at least trying to trade him. If you can scoop him up, you definitely should. We have no clue what this Taylor situation is going to be. They could still be looking to shop him but both parties recognize that the impasse is not good for trade options. Also, how many times have we seen players return from absences and get injured> There are so many variables to consider.

Two trusty tight ends

Steven C.: I love the security in having both Hockenson AND LaPorta rostered. But also feel the weight of wasted opportunity in trade value. I have Mattison & would like to replace him w/ a weekly RB starter. If i choose to trade... who should i target? Or should I just calm down & enjoy the luxury of 2 top TEs?

The question for me becomes what does your flex position look like? Is there a chance to put your tight end in as a flex option? If the need is to strengthen your starting lineup, put them both in the starting lineup. Don’t give one up until others in your league get desperate, that won’t be until closer to playoffs. Then look to sell at the highest or rock out with both giving you consistent double digit play.

WR decisions

Eric I: I will dropping either Jordan Addison or Jahan Dotson. Who should I drop and who should I pick up for rest of season, Adam Thielen, Marquise Brown, Romeo Doubs, or Nathaniel Dell?

There is no way I am dropping Addison after one no show. He is a rookie and this happens to rookies, especially when they are not the WR1. I would look to pick up Thielen. He has been targeted heavily all season, outside of Week 1 when he wasn't healthy.

Booting Burrow

Joey N.: Is Burrow droppable or should I leave him on the bench going forward? CJ Stroud is my other QB.

In a league of 12 or less teams, I think it's justifiable to cut Burrow loose if you have another solid option - I think Stroud qualifies as that. Burrow is going to need some time to get beyond this calf injury, and now Tee Higgins is dealing with a rub injury. Ideally you could hold him to see how he looks after his Week 7 bye, bt it's understandable if you need to use the roster spot for something else. The only thing I'll add is that Burrow has a schedule of IND, MIN, @PIT in Weeks 14-16 - all three of those teams are among the 13th-most generous to opposing QBs in fantasy. Burrow could be looking much better by then, but the mean time could be ugly for a while still.

Buy low/sell high receivers

Akshay J: Should we look to sell high on Puka? Buy low on Watson?

In one word, yes! I do not believe Puka will have as consistent a role in this offense when Kupp returns. Watson will only get more involved in the offense as the season progresses.

Taking a shot on Jameson

Arvind M: Grab Jameson Williams in a .5ppr league over AJ Dillon or Gus Edwards?

The Lions will get another opportunity to prove they can use elite level athletic talents. I have higher hope for Williams than I do for Gibbs. Williams has a chance to be utilized because Detroit needs another receiving option out there to keep the heat off St. Brown who is now garnering double coverage. Williams also provides a legit deep threat to attack the third level with. Dillon has been disappointing and Edwards is who he is.

Have we reached our limits with Skyy?

Sam H.: Time to give up on Skye Moore? Should I send him to the waivers in favor of someone who isn’t 6th on the depth charts?

Unfortunately Skye Moore is playing the same role as Kadarius Toney. The Chiefs seem to be more invested in giving Toney the touches that they would have given to Moore. It can’t be understated that the offense has not been as efficient this season so Skye may just be the odd man out.

How many RBs is enough?

Ben F.: With T.Etienne, R.Stevenson, D.Montgomery, K.Herbert, and a returning J.Wilson Jr, is it time to cut Cam Akers? I have seen advice to grab Tank Bigsby as a handcuff, but feel like 6 is already plenty of RBs

If you feel comfortable with your stable you should move on and strengthen another element of your roster. All four of those backs get consistent work. I am not so sure Wilson Jr. is coming back to meaningful touches but he is worth stashing just based on the prolific offense he plays in.

Trade Nacua?

David R.: Is now the time to trade Nacua? I have him and Kupp in one league, which would be best to try and trade?

I would trade Nacua if you can get Top 15 WR value. I think Kupp and Nacau can co-exist, but there's little doubt that Nacua will not dominate he targets like he has with Kupp back in the fold. We know from the days when Robert Woods and Brandin Cooks were in LA, that this sytem can support two Top 24 wideouts, I think Nacua will bring that level of upside, but it's unlikely he'll be able to deliver like the WR1 that he has, if only because Kupp will take some of his looks away.

More on McLaughlin

Nicholas T.: Is McLaughlin going to leapfrog Perine and run away with the starting gig while Javonte is, rather predictably, injured? With Mixon, B-Rob, and Kyren, I still have options. How much of my FAAB budget should I toss at him?

I think he will definitely get a chance to prove that his production last week was not a fluke. Perine has opened the door based on his play. I am not sure I would use a ton of FAAB on him unless you feel secure everywhere else on your roster.

Week 5 streaming defenses

Ashley B.: What is your streaming defense picks for the week?

The Dolphins play the Giants. Their offense should have the ball a ton and the Giants offense is a nightmare right now. The Lions defense against a Carolina offense that has no explosive playmakers. The Colts defense plays a one dimensional offense in Tennessee and they have the linebackers to combat King Henry. Finally, the Texans are playing Atlanta who will lean on the run but may not be able to provide much else. All are widely available in most leagues.

This is the Pitts

Omar R.: I have Kyle Pitts. Do I wait for a QB change? Do I drop him for Jonnu Smith? Do I drop him for Jake Ferguson? Or do I hold and drop somebody else on my bench?

The Pitts issue is rather infuriating. I wish someone would come out and clarify why he is not being utilized but if I am left to my own assumptions, it must simply be because the system in Atlanta does not fit him. It is crazy to say that out loud at a level where people are being paid handsomely to utilize talent, but that is the case. Using Pitts would be a benefit to Desmond Ridder but both seem to not be utilized to their potential. It is difficult to say to drop a talent like that but you definitely need to look in another direction.

Broncos backfield

Robert B.: I have Javonte Williams and have handcuffed him with Samaje Perine up until this point. It is looking like Jaleel McLaughlin may be the next man up if he misses time now. Should I be dropping Perine and picking up McLaughlin? What FAAB % would you recommend? Thank you!

I think McLaughlin must be considered if Williams is going to miss time. His production cannot be ignored. However, I would not get rid of Perine if it's not necessary. Perine has not been impressive so far this season but if he was the handcuff for Williams, he may still be in play with McLaughlin there. How much FAAB you spend on him really depends on how desperately you need a running back. I will tell you that if you are in a deep league it probably will not be cheap.

Ferguson Questions

There seems to be a lot of Jake Ferguson questions and interest this week. This is rather simple. There are just not a lot of productive tight ends in the NFL either because of the scheme they play in or they're just not that good in the passing game. Any time a tight end shows signs of a pulse you need to snap them up — the only reason you are asking about them is because you are in need of tight end production. Grab Ferguson, who's Top 7 at TE in targets and Top 6 in receptions — that should be more than enough to spur action.

Good morning, let's get to it!

Good morning! We have seen some of our fantasy favorites come back to life and we have seen some continue to struggle. As new faces emerge, I want you to be aware that the NFL is truly week to week. The only thing guaranteed is death, taxes, and a healthy Christian McCaffrey putting up insane numbers in this 49ers offensive system. You have questions, I have answers, let’s go!
